Who wants to submit some comments about what we did? Can you remember?

I hope you can all identify dock leaves now, they could be useful as some people say rubbing them on nettle stings helps stop the  itching!

Science – in the veg plot

image

Miss Kelly assisting groups planting their own seeds – we mustn’t forget to water them as it will be very hot in the greenhouse!

Hopefully they will germinate in the next week and we can transplant them outside in a bed.

Homework this weekend & next week is to research and blog about pollination and seed dispersal. We talked about it this morning in the vegetable plot, whilst munching raspberries and strawberries, but what else can you find out?

Please write on the Year 3 blog, include photos or diagrams etc if you want, but please put it in your own words, do not just copy and paste from a website. You will need to do some research on-line and write some notes, then turn those into sentences (like we did in class for our non -chronological report on Brazil) four or five about each topic will be enough. You have until Friday July 4th, so LOADS of time!

Remember: Check you punctuation carefully, capitals for titles as well as other things and leave spaces after commas, full stops etc

Tag your work with your first name (only).

Anything I have forgotten?

Why not show your parents what we have been doing on our World Cup blog too?

Oh and ‘Stars of the Week’ it would be nice to have photos of our class bears and to hear about what they get up to when they go home with you!

Gardening on Friday

What fun we had staking, transplanting & watering our peas! Some great teamwork Y3 , I was very impressed!

I was also really pleased that you all tried the stewed rhubarb, the first produce that we have grown in school!

Shall we do it all again next week? Weather permitting, we will try to get out on Monday or Tuesday afternoon and maybe Friday too, so please bring all the necessary equipment (gloves, boots, hats, water & suncream).

We're are thinking about Healthy Eating again as we grow our own fruit and veg in the vegetable plot. Are you eating healthily every day?

We’re are thinking about Healthy Eating again as we grow our own fruit and veg in the vegetable plot.
Are you eating healthily every day?

We all know how important it is to eat the right combination of foods to keep us healthy and help us concentrate properly in school every day.

Are you eating enough fruit and veg?

Are you eating carbohydrates to give you energy?

Are you eating too much sugar? It will make you thirsty and not give you enough energy for running around the playground and then concentrating in class in the afternoon!

Do you remember the names of the different food groups? Use this food pyramid to help you decide if you are helping your body to grow and work properly.

Check packets and cartons to see how many grams you are consuming on a daily basis.

A lot of fruit drinks contain a LOT of sugar!

Are you drinking enough water to keep you properly hydrated throughout the school day?

Do you bring a water bottle into school and refill it after breaktime and after lunchtime?

Insect Hotel

Insect Hotel

Have you all planted your poppy seeds?

I was buying some plants for my garden last weekend and thought you might like to see a picture of the insect hotel they had at the garden centre. Can you tell what type of creatures might like to stay here?

Why not post some pictures of your poppy seeds on the blog page?

Have any of them germinated yet?

Alien Habitats Game

Saw this and thought you’d like to have a go, Y3. Let me know how you get on!

Shadows Game – Can you play?

Help Steve to take a good picture of the king cobra for his Deadly 60 list – but stick to the shadows, or he’ll get bitten. (You will need Flash Player to do this, so if you are using an iPad, you may need to change to a different device!)

Alternatively  click here! You can also play the Deadly Dash Game!
